We all dine
Then we all die.
The light shines,
Then we all try to stay away.
Like all along,
Our darker days
Are still to come.
Like all along...
Then we all die.
The light shines,
Then we all try to stay away.
Like all along,
Our darker days
Are still to come.
Like all along...
The unseen
Is closing fast.
What was clean,
Destroyed by things that never last.
Been bound for dust
Can't tell the life
That's still to come
From all it never was
It generates your life
It generates your low (x3)
Is closing fast.
What was clean,
Destroyed by things that never last.
Been bound for dust
Can't tell the life
That's still to come
From all it never was
It generates your life
It generates your low (x3)
It found a way inside
It left a gaping hole (x3)
It generates your life
It generates your low (x3)
It found a way insideIt generates your low (x3)
It left a gaping hole (x3)
Let us sound the alarm
Let a warning rage
'Fore it's gone
And you leave another body.

I must admit I love this song, despite the lack of sense it apparently has...
What do you get to understand?
Hope you are all enjoying this loooong weekend :-)
Sorry, I've not enought time to appreciate the lyrics of the song, but the video it's gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWOU! It is a superb video and song, but I wonder if the death is bleak enough how it song say us.
ReplyDeleteIn my point of you this song is related to the death, but it talks about being afraid of die (“Then we all die, the light shines, then we all try to stay away”…). Dying is as natural as birth and grow. Although our culture does not accept the fact that we have to die this is the main obstacle that prevents us from understanding death; to accept that our lives must end.
If we analyze other phrases “It generates your life, it generates your low”…I think that when it repeats the word “IT” it refers to the time. When the time life is short, we contemplate the life that we have lived, the life that we could have lived and the things that were not ending.
On the one hand, “Fore it is gone and you leave another body”. “Leave” should be read in the sense of leaving this world (dying) and leaving another body behind in your place and no as a spirit that hops from body, or about reincarnation.
On the other hand, “Let us sound the alarm, let a warming range” The song encourages us to beware that our and may occur at any moment. You must live to the fullest before you run out of time.
Bye
Hello everybody, I really enjoyed the song as well as the above interpretation. As a whole, it sounds quite interesting and after you have analized it step by step, it sounds even better!
ReplyDeleteLet me propose another insight from a few remaining sentences:
the song starts by means of first plural person "Our darker days are still to come", and then turns into the third singular person: "The unseen is closing fast, destroyed by things that never last", "Been bound for dust...", "It found a way inside, it left a gaping hole" and finally retakes the third singular person.
Following the previously exposed argument by Mrs Christie, what it brings forward is there may exist a possibility for redemption, for all of us. Despite of being a unchangeable fact, time offers us a gaping hole, a second chance, for reinventing our souls, to give advice to the next generations!
